Putting a STOP to unregulated will writers

New regulations are being proposed to cover will writing services in England and Wales, after research showed that 1 in 5 wills contained mistakes.

Chris Kenny, chief executive of Legal Services announced today that the Legal Services Board is calling for all firms involved in will writing to be brought within folder regulation and for existing regulator to “raise their game”.

Standards need to be raised and consumers protected as thousands of people are being ripped off by unregulated claims management and will writing companies.

Urgent action is needed to make sure consumers are not left confused and vulnerable by unregulated companies.

An increased bundling of legal services with financial services and other products, including more being offered via the internet, posed serious dangers for consumer protection.
