Coodes Solicitors has been recognised for its expertise in contested trusts and probate by one of the legal profession’s most respected guides. In the newly-released Legal 500, Coodes’ Personal Disputes Team, which specialises in resolving contentious Wills and inheritance claims, is ranked among the best in the South West.

The Legal 500 states that Coodes brings “excellent industry knowledge” to Inheritance Act claimants and executors, and those seeking to challenge the validity of Wills.

The guide also gives special mention to Coodes Associate Mel Grose, who “demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and professionalism”. Coodes recruited Mel, who was born and grew up in Truro and is one of the region’s leading experts in the field, just over a year ago. The firm has been growing its Personal Disputes team as it experiences a dramatic increase in the number of Will and probate disputes.

Mel Grose said: “I am thrilled that the department has made it into the Legal 500 and to have had a personal mention is great recognition. Achieving this ranking demonstrates our expertise in a highly specialist area of law but, for me, seeing the positive comments from clients is the best recognition.”

The ranking adds to Coodes’ growing recognition for its expertise in the specialist field of contentious trusts, wills and inheritance claims. The firm has three members of the leading industry body, the Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) – the highest number for any firm in Cornwall.

Coodes Partner and Head of Personal Disputes Team Colin Hunter said: “We are delighted to be ranked as a leader in the Legal 500 and are very proud of Mel for being recognised for her particular contribution. Featuring in the Legal 500 helps consolidate our strategy of specialising in contested Wills and probate. This is a technically and emotionally challenging field for clients and is also a growth area, particularly in this region with its ageing population”.

“Being recognised in this way demonstrates our ability, willingness and drive to provide the very best service to clients locally.”
