Cornwall and Devon-based Coodes has found its workload involving commercial litigation, insolvency and debt recovery matters has increased signficantly in the last twelve months and the team has almost doubled in size in the last two years, in order to meet demand.

Experienced solicitors Trudy Rosevink and Lucy Vaughan, as well as newly qualified solicitor Fleur Uren (pictured) have now been appointed by the region’s longest established law firm to work on all areas of commercial litigation.

Coodes’ Commercial Disputes team specialise in using alternative dispute resolution methods to work with their clients to resolve their disputes. They work closely with the Commercial Property and Corporate and Commercial teams to provide an impressive Business Services Team to the South West’s business community.

The team act for business clients across several sectors in the South West, regularly representing clients in the High Court, Property Tribunal, County Court, Appellate and other specialist courts.

Trudy Rosevink joins Coodes from Womble Bond Dickinson in Plymouth. Trudy, a graduate of the University of Law in Birmingham, is based at Coodes’ Liskeard office and will work on all areas of commercial litigation with a focus on property disputes. She also has a niche specialism in marine and fisheries law.

Solicitor Lucy Vaughan, who graduated from the University of Sheffield and qualified in legal practice at De Montford University, specialises in corporate and insolvency disputes, but will also work across all commercial litigation matters.

Fleur Uren joins the team having recently completed her Legal Practice Course with a Masters degree in law and business. She has experience of working as a paralegal and then trainee solicitor for Coodes across a variety of different commercial litigation issues for clients. She boasts a strong network of local connections, particularly in west Cornwall.

Abi Lutey, partner and head of the Commercial Disputes Team at Coodes, said: “In the last twelve months, we have seen an exponential growth in cases concerning Commercial Disputes, particularly property litigation, but more recently we have seen an increase in instructions relating to insolvency and debt work which appear to have come about post-Covid, as businesses and individuals struggle with the perfect storm of increase in energy costs, the cost of living crisis and inflation. We have a strong demand from our existing client base as well as instructions from new clients referred to the team.”

She added: “Our team has grown over the last two years, almost doubling in size. We are absolutely delighted to welcome Trudy, Lucy and Fleur to the expanding Commercial Disputes team at Coodes and their experience and knowledge will provide a further boost to the existing expertise and first-class service that we offer our business clients in Cornwall and Devon.”

Coodes’ Commercial Disputes team handles a broad range of issues including business reputation, commercial property disputes, construction disputes, contractual and corporate disputes, procurement disputes, as well as insolvency litigation.
