Coodes Solicitors, the longest established law firm in the South West, has marked the end of its milestone 275th anniversary year by announcing a record number of promotions across all its legal teams.
Thirty five colleagues have been promoted at Coodes, representing more than 20 percent of the firm’s overall workforce, it was revealed at the firm’s recent Annual General Meeting at the Royal Cornwall Showground.
Around 150 members of staff attended the AGM event which provided the team with a chance to reflect on the firm’s achievements over the past year and look ahead to future developments in 2023/24.
Two highly-experienced lawyers, Karen Pritchard and Darren Higginson have been elevated to the senior position of Partner with the firm. Fourteen members of the team have been promoted to Associate – the highest number of promotions to be made to this level in any single year.
Four other individuals, Iynaiya Afzal (Family), Yasin Ahmed (Commercial Property) and Jenny Carter (Personal Disputes) and Caitlin Facey (Wills, Probate and Trusts) have been promoted to trainee solicitor. Fifteen members of staff across the wider firm have also been recognised.
In the last year Coodes has appointed seven new business owners as part of its futureproofing and succession planning. It is the first time in the firm’s history that there are more female business owners, compared to male.
Peter Lamble, Chairman of Coodes Solicitors, said: “We are thrilled to celebrate the culmination of our milestone anniversary year by recognising the outstanding achievements of our team. We are very proud to announce these well-deserved promotions and the unwavering dedication demonstrated by these individuals have played a pivotal role in the success of Coodes.
“This significant number of promotions reflects the excellence and expertise of our colleagues. We would like to congratulate each member of the team on their promotion and look forward to their continued growth and exceptional service they provide to our clients across Cornwall and Devon.”
With eight offices located throughout the region, Coodes Solicitors has built a well-deserved reputation for providing individuals and businesses with exceptional legal services and is recognised as a leading law firm in both the Legal 500 and UK Chambers & Partners guides. Its highly skilled and specialist lawyers provide expertise in wide-ranging and niche areas of legal practice.
The firm also holds a high-level Investors in People accredition, which in part recognises the firm’s excellence for the personal development of its team.
Becky Hosken, Human Resources Manager for the firm, added: “I think these promotions recognise the diversity and inclusivity at all levels within Coodes and truly demonstrates the broad spectrum of talent right across the firm. Because of the way we have approached agile working at Coodes, it has really helped to improve our career pathways. We are really proud of our record for developing our people and providing a range of opportunities for employees at every level. It’s also very much about supporting the next generation of legal talent and the workforce of the future.”
Earlier this year, Coodes’ specialist Commercial Disputes team made three new appointments and the firm’s Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team welcomed a new lawyer to support their growing number of clients across the South West.
