Coodes Solicitors have been supporting the local community with legal matters for over 275 years. With eight offices across Cornwall and Devon, we love getting out to agricultural shows in the South West over the summer. Both rural and farming businesses are a vital part of our region, so the shows are a great way to celebrate them. Plus, it allows us to connect with even more local people and have a bit of fun!
We kicked off the summer season with the Devon County Show from the 18th until the 20th. The weather was absolutely fantastic for our Head of Rural Services, Pam, who was at the first day of the show. With over 96,000 attendees across the show days, the 2023 event was one of the highest attendance figures in the 151-year history of the show. There were plenty of stalls and entertainment to keep the crowds busy. Pam enjoyed seeing some familiar faces, catching up with old friends and meeting some new ones.
On the 8th June, Coodes headed to the Royal Cornwall Show where we had a ringside view from our stand. Thankfully, the good weather continued all weekend allowing us and the show’s visitors to make the most of the days. We had a prize draw to win a marvellous hamper on offer, there were parachute jumpers, cakes, prosecco, and plenty of other goings on. As always, it was great to chat with people both old and new and we’re already looking forward to 2024.
July was a little busier for the Coodes team as we attended four agricultural shows! At Liskeard Show, we got to attend a great breakfast with ATC advisors and chat to other local businesses. At Stithians, the showcase of the best of the West, there were plenty of things to see and do. We also hosted a competition to allow showgoers the opportunity to win another fabulous hamper fit to burst with goodies!
Towards the end of the month, we could also be found at Launceston Show and Woolsery Show where we saw plenty of friendly faces and got to further support the rural and farming businesses that are crucial to the South West region.
We kicked off August at the Okehampton Show on the 10th, which is Dartmoor’s largest agricultural show. The variety of trade stands meant we got to meet lots of other local businesses. There were also plenty of competition categories from judging livestock to vintage cars.
On the 24th, we attended our last show of the summer season for 2023, the Holsworthy and Stratton Show. This particular show was a cause for celebration as the Coodes’ Holsworthy office celebrated its 25th anniversary. It was a great opportunity to reflect on both Coodes’ local history and all the fun we’ve had at various agricultural shows across the summer.
We’re already looking forward to attending these shows again in summer 2024 to get out and about in our local community. It’s also a great way for us to celebrate and show support for the farming and agricultural sectors that have such a big part to play in the South West region.
At Coodes, we understand the unique challenges faced within the industry, so our expert team of lawyers who specialise in rural services also have a thorough understanding of the challenges the sector faces.
