Companies House announced changes that will come into force as of March 2024 following the passing of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA). Jess Field, Paralegal in the Coodes Corporate and Commercial Team recently reported on the reforms and how ECCTA will impact businesses.
Now, the next instalment of the changes under the ECCTA has been announced. Two new regulations were passed on 19 February 2024 to introduce and amend various fees charged by Companies House.
What will the change in fees look like for businesses in the UK?
Due to the Registrar’s expanding role under the ECCTA, it is understood that the fee increase is a means to fund Companies House’s increasing powers of enforcement and investigation.
The fee increases will come into effect on 1 May 2024. Some of the commonly used services that will be affected are as follows:
Same-day services will also see an increase. The most proportionate of which being the cost of a same-day reduction of share capital increasing from £50 to £136.
These fee increases will affect all companies registered at Companies House including LLPs, overseas Entities, Limited Partnerships and Overseas Companies amongst others. The fee increases are also dependent on the type of filing submitted, whether that be digitally, via software, or in hardcopy format to Companies House.
On the Government website, you can find a full list of the new incorporation and registration fees.
At Coodes, we will continue to keep a close eye on the changes to ECCTA 2023 going forward. As always, we will also ensure that our clients are kept informed accordingly.
