Coodes’ elderly client excellence confirmed through accreditation

Posted on October 07, 2015

Five lawyers from Coodes Solicitors have been accredited by independent national organisation Solicitors for the Elderly, underlining the firm’s commitment to providing older clients with the very highest standard of service.

The lawyers, from across the firm’s network of offices in Cornwall, achieved the Older Client Care in Practice Award by completing an extensive online assessment to evidence their experience of working with older people. As well as demonstrating an outstanding knowledge of the law, they had to prove that they could clearly and sensitively communicate this expertise to clients and their families.  In addition, they had to demonstrate the firm’s commitment to making its offices accessible and welcoming to elderly clients, including vulnerable people.

The accredited lawyers are: Coodes Partner Louise Southwell, who is also Chair of Age UK Cornwall, a committee member of the Penwith Dementia Action Alliance and Secretary of the Older Peoples Forum, as well as Sarah Cornish, Nick Latimir, Joeli Norman and Rebecca Standing.

Coodes offers older clients with a range of legal advice including writing or amending a Will, creating a Lasting Power of Attorney and tackling elder abuse.

Coodes Partner Louise Southwell said: “With lawyers across the firm achieving this accreditation, we can confidently say that we have a high level of experience in advising older and more vulnerable clients.

“The legal issues affecting elderly people and their families and carers are becoming more and more complex. We are proud to be able to offer sensitive, professional and friendly service to our older clients.”

Solicitors for the Elderly describe their members as “specialists in older client law, but what sets SFE members apart from other lawyers are their specialist client care skills that enable them to advise and support older and vulnerable clients.”
