Experience
Chris has particular interest in all children related matters including private law child arrangements (residence and contact) disputes, education, travel or move abroad, social services involvement with your family, public law outline (PLO) process, care proceedings, related public law matters and special guardianship and adoption.
He specialises in handling cases involving domestic abuse and violence, including advice as to protective measures, warning letters, applications for Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders (injunctions).
He assists clients with issues around mental health and mental capacity including advice to those detained under section and their relatives, deprivation of liberty (DOLS) and contested Court of Protection matters including issues of finances and welfare.
Chris has extensive experience representing vulnerable clients and guiding them through complex and daunting processes.
Assisting a parent in obtaining a Specific Issue Order for permission to remove children from the jurisdiction to live abroad.
Assisting an aunt in obtaining a Child Arrangements Order to spend time with (have contact with) her niece.
Assisting a relative in obtaining a Special Guardianship Order for the care of the child where unfortunately the parents were unable to care for the child and consequently avoiding the child being in local authority care or adopted.
Assisting two separate clients in securing care and contact arrangements which included consideration of complex psychological and psychiatric evidence.
In a number of cases persuading the authorities and Court to move a client deprived of their liberty to a more suitable a less restrictive care placement.
Assisting many clients in obtaining injunctions for protection from a former partner or family member in circumstances of serious physical, emotional, psychological and financial abuse.

Chris trained as a Barrister before converting to CILEx and is therefore competent and experienced at representing clients in Court.
Chris can advise as to the availability of and eligibility for Legal Aid in all areas of law in which he practices.
