Coodes grows its family team with two new hires

The South West’s longest established law firm, Coodes Solicitors, has welcomed two hires to the Family Law Team to help meet the growing need for specialist legal services.

Based across Cornwall and Devon, Coodes Solicitors’ Family team advises on a broad range of legal matters relating to divorce, financial settlements, domestic abuse and arrangements for children as well as mental health and community care cases.

Angela Briggs is a Chartered Legal Executive and has joined the team from a well regarded Plymouth firm. Based at the Launceston office, Angela specialises in children and domestic abuse disputes and has strong links with local domestic abuse charities.

Angela said, “Working in a family law environment I had the opportunity to practice in the area of children and domestic abuse and discovered how many lives are affected by this. I knew that the family department at Coodes were also very passionate about providing this service to their clients so when I saw they were recruiting a family lawyer, I jumped at the chance. I’m very much looking forward to continuing to provide this service to the local community, with the support of the fantastic family law team.”

Joanne Ellaway is a solicitor of 16 years. She has been a resident in Cornwall since 2003, and previously worked for Cornwall Council in their legal team for over 12 years including in their children’s team, corporate governance team and commercial team. She specialises in children matters, in particular representing parents and other family members in respect of care and supervision order proceedings.

Joanne said, “Having known the family team at Coodes for many years I was very excited to be offered the opportunity to join the team. I’m looking forward to using my knowledge and experience to help and support more families in times of need here in Cornwall.”

These new appointments build on the continued growth of the team and the five new starters last year, ensuring that Coodes continue to provide the high quality service for which they are known.
