Magistrates’ Court advice and representation

We may have been with you at the police station when you were charged to appear at the Magistrates’ Court, but equally you may have contacted us after the police station stage, perhaps when you receive a postal requisition. We will be happy to discuss your case with you and obtain copies of the Prosecution evidence at whatever stage you come to us.

For every client, we will apply our strength in criminal defence to explore the prosecution case, obtaining the paperwork as early as possible and seeking to identify weaknesses and flaws in the evidence.

We will talk you through all the possible options available to you and support you through the court process. As your advocate we will do the majority of the talking on your behalf, but where this is not possible and when you need to give evidence to the court, we will advise you on the best way to present your case. We have years of skill and expertise in doing this.

We will instruct specialist forensic experts, where appropriate, to assist with the preparation of your defence. For example, a back calculation expert report where a defence of post-driving alcohol consumption is raised, or perhaps an expert in mobile phone analysis. We have many years of instructing experts so we will know the best ones to instruct for your particular case.

We cover all courts in Devon and Cornwall, particularly the Magistrates’ Courts in Plymouth, Bodmin and Truro, but we are also able to arrange representation for you nationally if you have been summonsed or charged to appear out of the local area.
