Over 30 delegates attended the first in a series of business seminars hosted by Coodes Solicitors and Winter Rule Accountants addressing the issues of intellectual property within high-tech and creative industries. The seminar was held at the Pool Innovation Centre last week.
Christian Wilson, Corporate Partner, Coodes spoke about the legal issues surrounding selection and form of vehicle and protecting Intellectual property including formation of vehicle, document financing of vehicle, protection and licensing of IP.
Richard Wadman, Corporate Finance Director from Winter Rule discussed corporate finance including the nature of vehicle, business plan preparation, raising finance and exit planning.
It was then the turn of Peter Penneycard, Tax Partner from Winter Rule who spoke about tax- efficiency including investor incentives, employee remuneration planning, R&D tax credits & Capital allowances for R&D.
Coodes and Winter Rule were also joined by guest speaker Noel Akers, Patent Attorney, N.J.Akers & Co.
After the seminar local business entrepreneurs were given the opportunity to raise specific issues and queries in front of the expert panel.
