Experience

Julie trained with locally renowned Clinical Negligence firm Preston Goldburn and re-joined Coodes as a Partner in July 2018 after a short period of working as a clinical negligence specialist with another South West firm.

With more than 30 years’ clinical negligence experience, for the past 17 years, she has been an accredited specialist with the Law Society Clinical Negligence Accreditation Scheme and has been a member of APIL for the last 26 years, becoming a Senior Litigator and Clinical Negligence accredited specialist.

She has focused her practice on developing an expertise in obstetrics and gynaecology and has successfully managed and negotiated the settlement of a numbers of cases arising from care provided by the notorious Rob Jones, a former obstetrics and gynaecology consultant at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. These claims were managed under a unique protocol negotiated with the local Trust and NHS Resolution.

Julie also acts for clients in maximum severity cases such as those arising from brain or spinal injuries, fatal accident claims, delayed diagnosis, surgical errors and obstetric injury cases including cerebral palsy, stillbirths, neonatal deaths and birth injury claims.

Working very closely with her clients, their families, medical experts and Barristers, Julie ensures that maximum settlements can be achieved through mediation or negotiation.
