Rebecca Moore has worked with the firm since 2008, progressing through her qualifications from Secretary to Paralegal and Chartered Legal Executive.
She started her career in the Family team and has more recently joined the Mental Health Team.
Rebecca represents clients before the Hospital Managers and is honing her advocacy skills as well as being in the process of completing the Law Society Mental Health Panel Accreditation which will allow her to represent clients before the First Tier Tribunal.
Rebecca assists clients who have been detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 and supports them in challenging their section and represents them at Hospital Manager’s reviews.
She also assists clients with s117 aftercare issues and displacement of their Nearest Relative.
In representing clients before the Hospital Managers to appeal their detention in the hospital under sections 2 and 3 of the Mental Health Act 1983, Rebecca cross-examines the psychiatrist and medical team and challeng the legal criteria set out by the Act.
Rebecca regularly assists clients in dealing with health and welfare matters in the Court of Protection, including challenges to an urgent or standard authorisation which has been granted under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS).
Rebecca has supported and advised a client recently who was successful in their appeal to the Tribunal and was subsequently discharged from their section and hospital.
Rebecca was successful in an application before the County Court to displace a client’s Nearest Relative from a family member deemed to be unsuitable to an individual who was considered more appropriate to act in that role.
