Sarah Evans is the Head of the Family Department. She joined Coodes in 2008, and qualified with the firm.

She conducts a broad range of family cases but has particular interest in supporting victims of domestic abuse and has strong links with local domestic abuse services as a result.

Sarah also deals with a variety of financial matters upon divorce including acting in complex high net worth cases, cases involving farms and cases involving third party intervenors.

She deals with a variety of proceedings involving arrangements for children including disputes between parents and cases where proceedings are issued by the Local Authority.

Sarah also sits as a Deputy District Judge.

  • Care Proceedings

    Complex care proceedings involving the death of a child in which findings of blame were sought.

  • Inherent Jurisdiction

    Acting in a reported case before the Royal Courts of Justice under the court’s inherent jurisdiction to determine which parent ought to make funeral arrangements following the death of their child. This included looking at an unusual point of law on locus to oppose the application.

  • Child Arrangements

    Acting for a parent involved in a dispute over a child’s living arrangements involving significant contested allegations of domestic abuse resulting in substantial findings of fact being made.

  • Financial Proceedings

    Acting for a client in complex high-net worth financial relief proceedings with allegations of substantial failure to disclose assets.

  • Financial Proceedings

    Acting for a third party intervenor in complex financial relief proceedings involving a multi-generational farm.

  • Non-Molestation Orders

    Acting for clients to obtain Non-Molestation Orders to protect them from domestic abuse and harassment by family members and Occupation Orders to allow clients to remain in or return to their homes.
